Vogue & New York Times: "The new health trend is graduated compression in socks and tights"

If we ask someone **what compression socks/tights are,** they will probably answer with our favorite movie character, Mrs. Doubtfire, in mind, with suggestions like: "they are for people with blood circulation problems, which help prevent blood from pooling in their calves" or "they are for grandmothers." And yet! That's not their only use, and certainly, there are compression socks and tights that have nothing to do with those of Mrs. Doubtfire. [caption id="attachment_4709" align="alignnone" width="480"] VIA GIPHY[/caption] It is undeniable that people's need to take care of their bodies inside and out is so strong that it is defined as a "global health trend." And rightly so! We live in our bodies, and so it is logical to seek quality food with organic products that offer longevity, more athletic activity that gives us well-being, meditation to control the stress that pressures us daily, and much more. Understandably, more and more brands are "turning" to present health accessories with special designs that support our body and help it **"take health steps with style"** every day. One example where "design meets health" is compression socks and tights. **Vogue** and the **New York Times** emphasize the importance of their use as **essential** health accessories for our daily routine. Why? Because by wearing them, we learn to care for and maintain our bodies before the time comes to resort to the chemistry of medicines.

Vogue's research on graduated compression in socks and tights

Our favorite magazine "Vogue," the fashion bible as we know it, discussed with people who have different daily lives, the experience and benefits they observe in their bodies by wearing graduated compression socks and tights. [caption id="attachment_4711" align="alignnone" width="137"] Lisa Airan[/caption] The first woman they approached was *celebrity dermatologist Lisa Airan, MD*, who lives in Manhattan. Her job as a doctor requires her to stand for many hours, as a result of which her legs complain with pain, swelling, and annoying visible veins. The icing on the cake of her limb wear and tear was none other than her favorite hobby, skiing! "I ski at every opportunity, and my legs suffered after every training session! From the day I discovered athletic compression socks, I wear them every time I exercise. Every time! They help me recover after the very intense pressure exerted on my legs and also keep my ankle joint stable before, during, and after my descent from the mountain." Furthermore, the dermatologist mentioned that apart from sports, she adopted compression technology in her professional reality as well. "Compression tights are now as essential to me as wearing moisturizer; **I can't imagine going to work without them**. Depending on my outfit, I choose to wear either the full pantyhose or the more petite version, the knee-high socks. Compression saved my legs, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to all my clients and friends; they are truly health and beauty accessories." [caption id="attachment_4713" align="alignnone" width="150"] Vinnie Milliano[/caption] The next interviewee was *Vinnie Miliano, a personal running coach for celebrities*, who is an avid user of athletic compression socks daily. "There's scientific study behind **'why we should wear them consistently'**. Personally, I constantly recommend their daily use to the people I train with. From my own experience, I confirm that I have seen significant changes throughout my body, and so I encourage everyone to try exercising with them at least once." Compression technology follows my life even outside of work; now compression socks have replaced regular socks that offer no beneficial effect on my body." [caption id="attachment_4715" align="alignnone" width="150"] Laura Regensdorf[/caption] Finally, the *article's author, Laura Regensdorf,* who describes herself as "one of the **everyday female marathon runners in... heels**," tried compression tights. She wore them under her pants during an 11-hour flight to Honolulu. "I was impressed. It helped my legs not swell." She continued, "For me, it's **a matter of health but also a matter of beauty**. If I can protect my legs from the small veins that appear after so many hours of work, then of course I'll do it!" And so should all women who love themselves and their legs and want to prevent veins, varicose veins, signs of fatigue and natural wear and tear, and even cellulite.

New York Times: Compression socks and tights are not "grandma-ish"!

If anyone knows about trends, fashion, and style, it's *Ms. Rubin, sales director for Isabel Marant in America*. The nature of her work requires constant travel to Paris with long flights. As a result, her feet usually "land" swollen and tired. So, when she had the opportunity to try compression socks on a trip to Paris for fashion week, everything changed. "I searched a lot to find socks that weren't 'grandma-ish'. Finally, I found a pair that cost 88 dollars, they were black and had a very nice design, and I wore them on my trip. The result? There's no way I'm traveling again without compression socks or tights. They increase blood circulation and minimize the swelling caused after hours of sitting in an airplane seat." This is how health accessories, usually chosen by pregnant women or people with specific serious health issues, became an "essential beloved accessory for people who define global trends in the fashion and beauty industry." They religiously wear them on trips and have now replaced most of their tights with compression tights that care for their legs daily at the office, while walking, and while wearing their favorite heels and outfits!
